Department: Graduate School Deans Office Campus: Rose Hill (RH) - Bronx Position Summary: Reporting to the Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences ( GSAS ), the Director of Academic Operations and Support is the key registration, financial aid, and administration specialist in GSAS . The Director is charged with supporting graduate students from matriculation through graduation, and serves as the primary GSAS staff member responsible for collaborating with University partners such the Office of Academic Records, the Bursar, Health Insurance Compliance, and the GSAS Director of Finance and Administration. Essential Functions: Manages daily operations of the GSAS Office of Academic Operations and Support, including the Executive Secretary for Academic Operations and Support. Oversees registration for 50+ doctoral, master's, and advanced certificate programs as well as students visiting through partner programs. Advises students and department/program staff and faculty on academic policy and procedural matters, including registration procedures, degree requirements, deadlines, transfer credit evaluation, and the degree clearance process. Collaborates with the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Assistant Dean of Student Professional Development, regularly reviews, maintains, and updates GSAS Academic Policies and Procedures Guidebook. Administers the GSAS merit-based financial aid application and posting process, advises students regarding financial accounts and billing, in coordination with the Office of Student Accounts. Acts on behalf of the Dean to review, approve, and post grades for key academic markers such as language requirements, comprehensive examinations, and dissertation or thesis proposal acceptance. Oversees the GSAS graduation clearance process for master's, doctoral, and advanced certificate students. Collaborates with the Assistant Dean of Student Professional Development, manages student data for university commencement and GSAS diploma ceremonies. Works with Enrollment Services and the Academic Calendar Committee to develop and maintain the GSAS Academic Calendar; reviews and updates the University Bulletin and course catalog. Serves as an administrator for New York Inter-University Doctoral Consortium ( IUDC ), New York Theological Consortium, and Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit National Honor Society. Processes visiting scholar requests including the Dean's letter for visa application. Represents and serves as GSAS liaison in university-wide committees, such as Billing Committee, Enrollment Services FAME Committee, and Academic Records Committee ( ARC ). Serves as primary liaison between GSAS and University support units, including but not limited to the Office of the Registrar, the Office of the Bursar, Financial Services, Health Insurance Compliance, and International Services. Required Qualifications: Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education academic records and financial processes, or relevant experience in a comparable sector. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with unionized workplaces. Knowledge of and commitment to the Jesuit mission in higher education. Minimum Salary: $67,000 Maximum Salary: $88,000
