Department: Marketing and Communications Position Summary: As a copywriter in University Marketing and Communications ( UMC ), you'll play acritical role in crafting persuasive content to support Fordham University's brand storytelling efforts across various owned and paid channels. Reporting to the Senior Director of Brand Storytelling, the copywriter is responsible for writing clear, concise copy that communicates Fordham's distinctive brand identity, mission achievements, values, and value , appealing to diverse audiences and driving engagement. The copywriter excels in writing SEO -optimized website and email marketing copy, headlines, ads, and other copy that resonates with target audiences and helps maximize impact and reach. Working closely with the brand storytelling team and cross-functional teams in UMC , the copywriter also contributes creative marketing ideas and storytelling narratives to enhance Fordham's brand identity, reputation, and visibility. The position calls for a strategic, imaginative thinker who can brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and write thoughtful, compelling copy in line with the University's brand. This is a hybrid position that requires three days in the office each week. Some evening and weekend work is required, as University events sometimes take place outside normal work hours. The position is based at Fordham's Lincoln Center campus but requires frequent travel to our Bronx campus and occasional travel to other city locations. Essential Functions: Writes clear, concise, and engaging copy for various owned and paid channels—including the Fordham website, digital and print advertising, email marketing campaigns, videos, and other projects—to help meet Fordham's marketing objectives. Brainstorms ideas, develops concepts, and helps create highly visible, integrated brand marketing content designed to enhance Fordham's reputation, extend its reach, and drive engagement. Collaborates with the brand storytelling team to help develop storytelling narratives and content plans that align with Fordham's mission and marketing objectives. Conducts research and gathers information to ensure accuracy and credibility of written content, including names, dates, statistics, and other factual details. Collaborates with designers, photographers, and videographers to integrate written content seamlessly into multimedia projects and campaigns. Stays informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in brand storytelling, content marketing, and social media, contributing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field Minimum of 3 years' experience in copywriting, content creation, or related roles Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with social media channels and the type of content that resonates with audiences and drives engagement on specific channels Experience with multimedia content production and distribution Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus. Agency experience is a plus. Minimum Salary: $70,000 Maximum Salary: $76,000
