National Grid is hiring a Senior Supervisor, Distribution Line Worker Massachusetts. This is a 100% in office/field, no work from home - Must live within a commutable distance to one of the following locations Brockton, Hanover, Quincy, Weymouth.

Job Purpose

To be responsible for the safety, reliability, security, and integrity of the overhead electric distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with

Company and regulatory requirements. This role provides emergency response and supervision of personnel engaged in a 24-hour, 7 day per week operation

Key Accountabilities

  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are

  • carried out in an efficient manner.

  • Oversee the Overhead Electric operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to

  • deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.

  • Manage employee scheduling within the Department.

  • Ensure supervised Overhead Electric teams comply with safety standards, policies, and processes to ensure a

  • safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.

  • Review and ensure accuracy and execute the approval of area purchase orders, invoices, and payroll activities.

  • Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy, and regulatory requirements.

  • Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with

  • them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and

  • processes.

  • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of

  • work to ensure that work is performed efficiently and effectively.

  • Act as the first point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies to provide support and

  • ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement.

  • Promote and implement Overhead Lines electric best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high

  • productivity and low costs.

  • Responsible for Department Training and ensuring department employees are compliant.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree preferred in a related area and/or 5 to 7 years of Distribution Overhead Line experience is

  • required.

  • Technically proficient within subject matter and experience of leading a team involved in Overhead Field

  • operations activities is required.

  • Ability to read, interpret, understand, and translate our Overhead Lines one-line diagrams during normal and

  • emergency situations is required.

  • Ability to respond to Overhead Lines related outages is required.

  • Ability and knowledge to develop standard operating procedures for field personnel to perform Overhead

  • Lines electric work and connections on energized distribution/transmission facilities is preferred. Must have or

  • possess the ability to develop a working knowledge of information systems critical to the work management,

  • financial reporting, and performance tracking of the Overhead Lines Department.

  • Must have or possess the ability to develop knowledge and understanding of National Grid’s policies and

  • processes and how to apply them effectively to the Overhead Department.

  • Must have demonstrated or possess the skills to build effective, respectful, working relationships.

  • Ability to perform off-hour coverage and provide sound decision-making during emergency situations.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Will also work to cover various Southshore platforms as necessary.

More Information

Salary - $117,000 - $138,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
