The ERP Competency Center is our Merck IT team providing innovative and differentiated services to plan, implement, deliver and advance the Comet ERP platform based in SAP software and running our global business processes across Merck. The Comet ERP Platform is integral to our Manufacturing Division, Finance, Global Human Health, Procurement and our Research & Development Division Business and running the business processes of Order to Cash , Supply Chain Management , Source to Settle and Financial Business Management . Each year, the Comet ERP Platform is the critical component in the delivery of multiple projects to enhance and improve across these business processes.
These projects cover a broad scope:
Continue our multi-year transformational journey through deployments of the standard Comet platform
Enable the continuous improvement and re-engineering of the global processes enabled by the Comet platform.
Manage technical upgrades to keep the platform healthy and current
The System Build Coordinator is part of the "Build" team within the Integration and Operations Team. The "Build" team of 3-4 Merck and partner resources are responsible for the following:
Plan and manage the build of the project environments for ERP/Comet enhancements, major releases and special projects.
Ensure plans are built in accordance with the Merck SDLC and in alignment with the established road map.
Track and report execution progress, escalate issues and work with project stakeholders to develop mitigation plans
Partner with Portfolio Planning and Delivery functions of the Integration and Operations Team as well as Functional and IT stakeholders such as BASIS, Security, Infrastructure, Network, Middleware, ADI, SV&T and ITRMS etc. to create comprehensive project plans
Change and Release Management for the platform
Plan and track the env set-up for new applications both on premise and cloud based.
Demand tracking and reporting with metrics and KPIs
Coordinate Test Management Services from SV&T in accordance in support of platform releases and projects
Communication of critical dates and milestones across the enterprise for those working on Comet projects or impacted business areas
The incumbent will be responsible for executing the functions listed above. This role is an integral part of the Integration and Operations team and works closely with all members of the team with a focus on enabling project delivery by timely execution of system builds and testing.
An ideal candidate will have a good understanding of Business and Software development processes and the ability to connect requirements from different groups. Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills are critical success factors as is the ability to effectively work in a highly matrixed environment while managing multiple and competing priorities.
Education Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor's Degree Or Equivalent exp
Required Experience and Skills:
Min 5 years working in environment builds
Min 5 years exp working on global IT Projects Implementations
Knowledge of SAP landscape environments & Platforms
Working knowledge of SDLC and project planning methods
Working knowledge of common project management, collaboration, and reporting tools such as MS Project, Spotfire, Sharepoint, ALM and MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Experience with global project implementations
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, problem solving and influencing skills
Proven track record of building and maintaining strong working relationships
Knowledge of Pharmaceutical industry and validated software environments a Plus
Ability to work in a matrixed env with partners from different groups and time zones
Degree in IT, Project Mgmt or related/equivalent experience preferred
Functional or Technical knowledge of SAP
