Service Specialist (Devops)

What are we looking for?

Core Voice Signaling DevOps is leading the enterprise in the evolution of advanced Voice technology projects design, implementation and managing network incidents effectively. You will find yourself enthralled in various network components and systems within the Network organization as we strive towards offering the best customer experience. we are looking for Service Specialist for Core Voice Signaling DevOps Team.

Core Voice Signaling DevOps team is responsible to design, test, build, integrate, deploy and maintain new cutting-edge platforms to support SS7, Diameter, IPX, VoLTE and Roaming services. We evolve, scale, optimize and sunset existing platforms.

What you will bring:

  • Applying industry standard engineering principles, Service Specialist is expected to possess the following, but not limited to, core competencies:

  • Passion for emerging technologies and love keeping up with the latest technology trends.

  • Deep understanding of current and future Voice Signaling Network, Virtualized Platforms, Applications, and Services.

  • Demonstrated work experience in managing SS7 signaling networks, Titanium or Oracle STP functionalities.

  • Strong working knowledge of SIP, SS7/ISUP, Diameter, H248, MGCP, ISDN Q.931 standards, and related Voice protocols

  • Demonstrated work experience of GSM, HSPA, LTE, 5G, IoT technologies and associated signaling network design, implementation and operations.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex network problems.

  • Deep understanding of Local Number Portability (LNP) service flows and database.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Science with a successful track record in large MSO or carrier technology environments.

  • 5+ years of system administration experience in a large-scale, multi-OS (Linux/Windows/VMware/RedHat) high-availability environment, required with the knowledge of automation, security governance & compliance, patch, cost, and performance management.

  • Effective communication and organizational skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and develop technical processes.

  • Advanced level skills in using tools like NetScout, Wireshark, Ansible, Splunk, Dynatrace, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of current and evolving Network Management principles, protocols, and architectures; IP networks and protocols, routing, switching (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLAN, TCP/IP, UDP).

  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating system, scripting languages like Java, Python, PHP, VB script, Perl, bash, SPL for Splunk.

  • The advanced level skillset of Incident, Change & Problem Management processes execution with stringent compliance on Core Voice Platform and Services.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve incidents to reduce the MTTR.

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate teams. Exceptional abilities at mentoring and engaging others, empowering teams, and inspiring them to excellence.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team during extremely challenging incidents and change implementation situations.

  • Working knowledge of Control network security threats and mitigation techniques i.e. SS7/ Diameter FWs, GSM screening.

  • Knowledge and experience of 5G core, SCP/BSF, and familiarity with end-to-end data session 5G/stand-alone signalling is an asset.

  • Proficient in articulating technical concepts and solving complex network problems related to NNI, IPX and other direct interconnects for both control and user plane.

  • Experience in hardware and software design and process design and development.

  • Able to pass Security background check.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to Network Engineering and Operations team members.

  • Engineering and Operations team lead for Core Voice Signaling platforms and services during business hours and 24/7 on a rotational basis. Work night shift as required.

  • Provide expert-level support for change control activities including impact analysis, MOP reviews, change implementation, and post-activity verifications.

  • Network planning of SS7, Diameter and LNP used in Wireless and Wireline networks.

  • Engineering prime to design and implement changes in the STP, establish new links, test new features in lab and deploy in production.

  • Network Security project management like Universal Call Blocking, SS7 FW deployment etc.

  • Network Performance management and maintain inventory to assess capacity augments requirements and end of life network elements.

  • Work with multiple Network and Business teams on projects from concept to completion.

  • Assist in preparing budget decks for executives to raise capital funding for new projects.

  • Effectively plan internal and external Signaling network paths to ensure sufficient redundancy is in place to avoid any service impacting incidents.

  • Perform as a top-tier technical resource within Network organization to investigate and resolve network incidents.

  • Adhere to SS7 protocols and standards such as ITU-T, ANSI, and ensure the SS7 signaling network compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct training sessions for network operations staff on SS7 signaling and Titanium STP functionalities.

  • Liaise with vendors for technical support, procurement of equipment, and software updates.

  • Implement and enforce security policies to protect the SS7 signaling network from unauthorized access and cyber threats.

  • Manage access controls and user permissions for the SS7 network elements.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of the SS7 network configuration, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Integrate Titanium STP with other network elements such as MSCs (Mobile Switching Centers), HLRs (Home Location Registers), and other STPs.

  • Design, plan and deployment of new SS7 Titanium STPs, including software and hardware installations and upgrades.

  • Monitor and manage signaling traffic to ensure efficient routing and avoid congestion. Implement load balancing and optimize signal routing paths.

  • Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning to ensure the SS7 network meets the required performance standards.

  • Work in collaboration with Planning, Operations, Business and Technical teams on budget, network design solutions, project management and network evolution.

Great-to-have

  • Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps framework.

  • Solid business acumen: ability to understand the organization’s key drivers to success, make quality decisions and deliver results in the stipulated time frame.

  • Experience in managing VMs, Applications, Servers, and IP networks is an asset.

  • Ability to contribute to Service KPI design and Automation programs.

  • Industry-recognized certifications such as Cisco CCNA, VMware, ITIL, Kaizen, Six Sigma.

  • Working knowledge of Splunk, Dynatrace, and other Performance monitoring tools.
