Boston University Department of Biology seeks a Teaching Professional to join our team. We seek a broadly trained biologist to teach and coordinate our Introductory Biology Lab sequence. In addition to teaching lab sections, the Teaching Professional will coordinate and supervise the graduate Teaching Fellows (TFs) and undergraduate Learning Assistants (LAs) and run weekly prep sessions in partnership with other course staff. This person will prepare appropriate instructional materials for the labs, revise the laboratory curriculum and manual, and assist undergraduate students in these large (500+ students) courses. A willingness to learn, or a strong knowledge in, trends in biology lab curriculum development is desired, as this person will design and test potential new laboratory exercises in close consultation with the Director.

This is a full-time position with laboratory teaching and administrative responsibilities. The Biology department is a large, collaborative and dynamic environment that values diversity and inclusion.

About the Candidate

A Master's degree is required, and a Ph.D. is preferred. We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills, including a strong attention to detail;

  • Can communicate effectively and professionally with people from a variety of different backgrounds;

  • Has the ability to work independently but is a strong team member; and

  • Is dedicated to undergraduate biology education.

    The ability to self-prioritize in order to ensure progress daily across multiple deadlines is critical.
