Job Summary
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute (HPHCI) is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Therapeutics Research and Infectious Disease Epidemiology (TIDE) group within HPHCI and Harvard Medical School’s Department of Population Medicine (DPM) (www.populationmedicine.org) as a Research Assistant. TIDE is the home of several large, complex, multi-institutional research initiatives based within health systems using electronic health data that support major national public health activities. Our mission is to improve health care delivery and population health through research and education, in partnership with health plans, delivery systems, and public health agencies.
The Research Assistant will perform administrative and other activities to facilitate various comparative effectiveness studies, patient-centered outcomes research studies, and public health surveillance projects. The Research Assistant will primarily support the Sentinel Program (https://www.sentinelinitiative.org/), a nationally transformative initiative sponsored by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to monitor the safety of FDA-regulated medical products.
Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing
Support research studies by performing day-to-day administrative tasks; assist with proposal preparation, grant submissions, data collection and management, and creation and maintenance of project databases (Access, Excel, or similar software).
Support meeting preparation; set up teleconferences and webinars, send invitations, track responses, solicit and distribute agenda items, create slide decks, provide technical support, prepare meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
Assist with timeline coordination and deliverable preparation, including protocols, research plans, and final reports.
Work on special projects, as needed.
May coordinate outreach to targeted community for specific research.
May administer questionnaires through personal interviews and record data and follow up as appropriate if additional documentation or clarification is needed.
May process incoming mail and maintain files.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
EXPERIENCE (minimum years required) :
- 1 year with related experience in a health care, research, or academic environment preferred.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Capable of completing very detail-oriented tasks
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel required.
Ability to collaborate effectively with others, prioritize work, operate under tight deadlines, and meet deadlines.
Ability to operate independently and with good judgment.
