Boston University RESEARCH ASSISTANT, School of Medicine, Slone Epidemiology Center in BOSTON, Massachusetts

The Slone Epidemiology Center, a multidisciplinary research organization, is seeking a Research Assistant to join the staff of the Black Womens Health Study, now in its 29th year (www.bu.edu/bwhs). This position will assist with a new 5-year epidemiologic project that is focused on identifying factors that influence the risk of Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias in Black women.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the project manager with project start-up, recruiting participants, scheduling and conducting cognitive interviews, processing and quality control of data collected during cognitive interviews, assisting with participant engagement and retention, completing administrative tasks, maintaining study documentation, and assisting with reporting to the research team. Research assistants will be trained and complete annual certification to administer telephone cognitive assessment battery.

Required Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in a research environment are required.

  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and must be comfortable being recorded during telephone interviews.

  • A candidate with telephone interview experience, interest and/or research experience in the area of cognitive health, experience with data collection, and knowledge of MS Office applications preferred.

  • Work will be conducted in a hybrid work environment and candidates must have reliable high-quality internet and a quiet, private area that is free of disruptions to ensure participants confidentiality and integrity of the assessments being conducted when working remotely.

  • Hardware needed for interviewing will be provided.

  • Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule and be willing to work some evenings and weekends.
