A Graduate Program Manager position is available for someone to help manage URBAN (sites.bu.edu/urban), a graduate program that was established with a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded Research Traineeship (NRT) grant that partners Ph.D. students in Biogeoscience and Environmental Health with cities to tackle urban environmental challenges. The Program Manager within the Department of Biology will be responsible for helping with development, planning, strategy, programming, communication, implementation, and assessment of an interdisciplinary graduate program, working under the direction of the Director. The Program Manager will cultivate critical relationships, develop and maintain communication with our partners across government, non-governmental, and private sector organizations, as well as faculty and staff across departments and units at BU and the public through website creation and social media. The Program Manager will manage and coordinate workshops, develop outreach and educational materials, and help coordinate placement of place students in internships and teach the companion internship course, with cities, non-governmental organization, and/or the private sector and facilitate competitive research and travel awards, and advance fundraising efforts.

The Program Manager will also provide support for recruitment, mentoring, and retention of graduate students in the program following our student-centered approach with an emphasis on broadening participation or underrepresented groups. The Program Manager will prepare monthly budgets and annual reports. The Program Manager will also be responsible for advertising and tracking participation in all events and ensure students are making satisfactory progress towards completing program requirements.

Required Skills

  • Applicants with a MA/MS/MPH/MBA/MSW with three years of experience.

  • MA or MS in fields related to Higher Education Administration, Public Policy, Biogeoscience, Biology, Biogeochemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or Environmental Health are desired.
