62099BRJob Posting Title:PerfusionistDepartment:Cardiovascular ProgramAutoReqId:62099BRStatus:Full-TimeStandard Hours per Week:40 Job Posting Category:ClinicalJob Posting Description: General Summary Monitors and controls extracorporeal perfusion apparatus during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery and related procedures on patients of all ages. Operates and maintains equipment, monitors and evaluates physiologic data and makes adjustments in perfusion parameters and fluid and/or medication additions as needed to ensure satisfactory bypass. Administers prescription drugs, blood products and anesthetic agents through the extracorporeal circuit and induces specified physiologic conditions, such as hypothermia and circulatory arrest, as ordered by a physician. Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required
Work requires the level of knowledge typically acquired through completion of two years of post‑baccalaureate education or a Bachelors degree in Perfusion Technology, and no previous experience plus three to six months of time on the job.
Work requires the analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in‑depth, experienced‑based knowledge.
Work requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.
Certification, Registration, or Licensure Required Current certification as a Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
