  1. PATIENT RESPONSIBILITY

    a. Greets and welcomes families and patients to Boston Children’s Hospital.

    b. Helps families with navigation to and from the clinical areas and the waiting rooms

    c. Transport patients via stretcher, wheelchair, bed, or walking to and from test sites, physician's offices, lobbies, and various other areas within the hospital.

    d. Assist hospital staff with the movement of patients on/off transport equipment and with medical equipment.

    e. Assure accurate patient identification by comparing patients' ID armbands, and leg bands with medical record.

    f. Maintain confidentiality of information related to individual patients and patient care units.

  2. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITY

    a. Ad hoc administrative support when requested, including scanning, photocopying, laminating, etc.

    b. Maintain accurate records by keeping a written log of all assignments and tasks.

    c. Provides general support for clinical operations

  3. CARING PRACTICES:

    a. Establishes supportive relationships with patients and families as appropriate.

    b. Attend to the patient comfort and safety with courtesy at all times

  4. DIVERSITY/ADVOCACY: Recognizes and respects patients’, families’, and co-workers’ individual differences.

  5. COMMUNICATION/COLLABORATION

    a. Provides clear, accurate information within scope of autonomy and knowledge.

    b. Promptly directs questions requiring administrative or clinical judgment to RN or other appropriate personnel.

  6. PATIENT SAFETY:

    a. Maintains safety of work area.

    b. Retrieve, disinfect and performs minimal maintenance on reusable patient transporting equipment between patient uses according to established procedures.

    c. Acknowledge and report emergency situations to the Supervisor.

    d. Ensure certain patient transporting equipment is functioning properly.

    Required Education: High School Diploma / GED
