Tufts Medicine Multi-disciplinary Translational Researcher in Boston, Massachusetts

We’re saving lives, building careers, and reimagining healthcare. We can’t wait to grow alongside you.

Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM) and Tufts Medical Center (TMC) are increasing their joint research programs looking to further develop exciting, forward-looking multidisciplinary translational research. The joint mission of the TUSM/TMC research enterprise is to advance health justice through transdisciplinary research leveraging Tufts’ collective strengths across the translational spectrum to solve the most pressing health problems of our society. To grow Tufts’ research, we are cluster-hiring investigators at all career levels (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor) into academic and clinical departments. The goal of these cluster hires is to build basic science, translational, and clinical research expertise both in areas of existing strength and in areas of opportunity for growth. We are soliciting submissions from individuals who are eager to participate in transdisciplinary translational research, as well as from teams of investigators who already work together or who would come to Tufts to work together. Successful applicants will have a track record of impactful publishing and robust research support, as appropriate to their career stage. Candidates that bring state-of-the-art methods and capabilities that can add to Tufts transdisciplinary translational research will be prioritized.

Why join our team?

These positions will exist within TUSM’s rich research environment across Tufts academic campuses and medical partners with appointments in any of our basic science departments (https://medicine.tufts.edu/about/academic-departments/basic-science-departments) , clinical departments (https://www.tuftsmedicine.org/research-clinical-trials/research-institutes-department-research) , or research institutes (https://www.tuftsmedicine.org/research-clinical-trials/research-institutes-department-research) . Tufts has robust core facilities, flourishing graduate and medical education, a community of research-focused academics and clinicians, and structured mentorship and support for all faculty. The Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (http://www.tuftsctsi.org/) (CTSI) has actively shared research and education programs with Jackson Laboratories, Maine Medical Center, MIT, Northeastern University, and other partners. These resources and more will be available to support the research, translational, and clinical efforts of the new investigators. Successful candidates will be able to articulate a vision of how existing assets at Tufts can be grown or leveraged to collaboratively and impactfully address unmet needs in biomedical science and clinical medicine.

Who you are:

  • Ph.D. or M.D. degree with experience appropriate to your career level.

  • Successful candidates will be expected to develop thriving, well-funded research programs and to participate in graduate and medical student teaching and mentoring.

  • Tufts is committed to anti-racist practices, and we are keen to continue to diversify our faculty and encourage applications from women and those from groups underrepresented in medicine and science.

  • Tufts University supports pathway programs that provide opportunities for underrepresented students interested in the fields of medicine and biomedical sciences, including the Pathway to PhD (P2P) program, Building Diversity in Biomedical Sciences (BDBS) program, and the Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP).

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until all positions are filled. Please submit electronic applications including a CV, a statement describing your current and planned research including how it could contribute to collaborative, interdisciplinary, translational research at Tufts, a brief statement of your commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the names and email addresses of at least three references by clicking here (jillian.greenberg@tuftsmedicine.org) or emailing Jillian.Greenberg@TuftsMedicine.org .
