Position Summary

The Member Funding Associate is responsible for conducting sales, market research and customer service activities on the Bank’s Member Funding Desk. The incumbent participates in all aspects of the marketing and sales of advances products and works with member banks, credit unions and insurance companies to identify appropriate FHLBank Boston solutions. The Member Funding Associate also conducts and oversees the processing of other sales-related or service-related financial transactions. The position additionally supports the rest of the Treasury department as a resource relating to the Bank’s advances products and member borrowing needs/patterns, as well as supporting additional departmental functions, as necessary, and works with other FHLBank staff to support various business development initiatives.

This role is ideally suited for someone with 1 – 3 years of financial services industry experience.

The Bank does not sponsor work authorization for entry- or junior-level positions.

To set a new colleague up for success, our expectation is that 3 or 4 days a week will be office-based work. This role will have a hybrid work schedule in our Boston office in accordance with the Bank’s Hybrid Work Program.

Specific Responsibilities

· Maintain and enhance member relationships through proactive outreach; Identify and develop potential sales opportunities and recommend FHLBank credit products as a competitive alternative to wholesale and retail funding sources.

· Provide appropriate education, training, and guidance to members with respect to FHLBank Boston products and services.

· Work closely with the Member Funding Manager and designated staff in the Treasury Department to communicate member funding needs, identify funding opportunities, and recommend advance features.

· Responds to technical questions from members and works with the Member Strategies and Solutions staff to identify members for strategy application and FHLBank modeling.

· Act as a liaison to the Relationship Manager staff, keeping an open dialogue regarding member activity and requests, advance product updates and any market related information that may be useful to the RMs on a timely basis.

· Produce market research reports for tracking product demand, credit product sales, and competitive funding strategies.

· Perform execution of service-related transactions in accordance with established procedures, policies, and regulations, including the initiation of advances and letters of credit.

· Work directly with the Bank’s Marketing Strategy and Communications staff to maintain and develop marketing emails utilized to promote advance solutions and product offerings.

· Works with the Member Funding Manager and other Treasury staff to develop and maintain product and member databases.

· Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills

  • Basic understanding and working knowledge of 1) the capital markets, 2) asset/liability management, and 3) commercial, residential and mortgage lending. Knowledge of the FHLBank System strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of what incents members to utilize the Bank’s credit products.

  • Comfort managing inbound and outbound calls with member institution contacts.

  • Strong customer service, communication and presentation skills.

  • Self-starter; Developed problem solving and prioritization skills.

  • Proven ability to function flexibly in a team setting.

  • Strong detail-orientation is required.

    Education

    · A degree preferred in finance, marketing, economics, or a business-related field OR equivalent work experience.

    Experience

    · 1-3 years of experience in the financial services industry or the equivalent with an emphasis on financial product knowledge and customer service is preferred. Internship experience counts!
