National Grid Ventures is hiring a Lead Program Manager for our US Offshore Wind development. The hybrid role can be located in our Melville, NY, Brooklyn, NY, Boston, MA or Waltham, MA office.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Lead Program Manager will support development of onshore and/or offshore transmission project components which are both organic to NGV and within Joint Venture organizations. Responsibilities include operating in a heavily matrixed environment ensuring close collaboration and support from supporting organizations (i.e. Transmission, Generation, Commercial, Construction, Community, Government Relations, etc.). The role will be responsible to plan, organize and lead tasks that feed into higher level goals to support accomplishment of project milestones associated with EPC Contract Negotiation and general scope, schedule, & budget tracking for Project Package Managers. The successful candidate will also interface with the workstreams throughout multiple project organizations to ensure oversight and support successful development, project management and ultimately construction of project components. The Program Manager will provide guidance to leaders in the various organizations, review milestones & reporting processes, manage and escalate risks, provide analytical support with a focus on effective and efficient data analysis for decision making purposes. The individual will act as a liaison with all key stakeholders back to the Development team to improve and evolve National Grid’s on/offshore development projects.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead & responsible to deliver cross-functional workstreams to achieve project deliverables, (i.e. routing assessments, etc). The successful candidate will be charged to take responsibility for a matrixed team that will organize and deliver project deliverables.

• Support development, permitting, project engineering and construction preparation activities associated with onshore and/or offshore generation and transmission

• Provide Project Management Support to the Engineering Manager within a matrixed organization to provide oversight and administrative functions

• Serve as a Program Manager in vendor negotiations in order to achieve a successful outcome and agreement for the project team

• Support the broader NGV US Northeast team in transmission origination, policy, technical assessments, and project development phases.

• Work across all phases of feasibility assessments, proposal documents, cost and pricing formation, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory processes

• Support the Development Director in managing, planning, permitting, engineering and operations priorities effectively across NGV and Joint Venture project teams.

• Provide visibility of Offshore Asset’s overall project status Project Leaders (e.g. key decisions, progress, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics, forecasts, staffing, safety/process safety, etc.) on an ongoing basis through status reporting.

• Identify, escalate as necessary and support resolution of risks, issues and conflicts associated with managing complexity within the portfolio of projects

• The successful candidate will need to be able to navigate competing priorities to organize teams and deliver on milestones to progress the overall project goals & targets

• Coordinate and support management of the costs and budgets to inform future / forward looking project strategic business plans and budgets

• Provide cross functional leadership in planning & executing project schedule management and reporting

• Analysis for projects and partnerships to interconnect, develop and implement transmission for utility or large-scale renewable generation integration, addressing all necessary aspects of the interconnection process, working with others as needed.

• Document, present and report findings and justifications throughout the development process. Help prepare executive summaries or investment committee papers.

• Oversee consultants’, permitting experts, environmental experts, engineers or other subject matter experts as required to augment or complement the Business Development team.

• Work in a project team and matrix environment interacting with individuals across NG and JV partners and functions across the globe

Qualifications

• A Bachelors’ degree in business or technical field is preferred. Significant demonstrated experience in the subject matter will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Advanced knowledge of siting infrastructure within dense urban environments, with a specific focus on New Jersey, New York City and/or Long Island process, procedure and administration.

• Demonstrated experience evidenced by 8+ years in large scale infrastructure development, project management and/or directly related field that would apply to the development of electric transmission or generation projects

• Demonstrated Leadership Experience is required

• Experience working in a matrix environment

• Experience of organizing and facilitating workshops and meetings

• Ability to develop materials and presentations for senior leadership

• Understands policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working to create more efficient operations

• Strong analytical background with ability to gather & analyze data to come up with recommendations

• Familiarity with recent trends in on-shore and off-shore wind, other large-scale renewable generation, energy storage, conventional generation and emerging technologies is a plus.

• Strong skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary

Downstate NY: $137,000 - $161,000 a year

New England MA: $128,000 - $151,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
