The award is named in honor of Sarah Marie Liamos, who always made the most of the summer months by volunteering in various community outreach projects and a working as a camp counselor, serving a role model for children with congenital heart disease. Applications for this award will be accepted each Spring, and the criteria for selection will be heavily weighted on the desire of the student to improve the lives of children and adults living with congenital heart disease, as Sarah exemplified so beautifully throughout her life.
This scholarship program allows a motivated student the opportunity to be directly involved with the advancement of care of people living with congenital heart disease by both increased clinical and research exposure in this growing field. This award provides limited salary support for 8-10 weeks of time.
The recipient of this scholarship is expected to immerse themselves in learning opportunities throughout the Boston Children’s Hospital Cardiology Program. This includes attending conferences and lectures and participating in the outpatient clinic. Each scholar will be expected to focus on one primary project, with ties to the community, and submit a written summary of the work at the end of the summer. This scholarship typically takes place May-August.
To qualify, you must have:
