Exciting full-time position available for a Social Worker on our soon to open inpatient psychiatry unit at Boston Children’s Hospital @ Waltham. The unit serves children 8-18 years, many of whom have co-morbid medical problems, e.g. eating disorders, neurological disorders, etc. This person will orient and train on our Boston inpatient psychiatry unit until the Waltham unit opens.

The Clinical Social Worker will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with attending psychiatrist to oversee/coordinate direct delivery of care to assigned patients and their families on an acute 12 bed medical-psychiatric unit.

  • Providing individual and family therapy within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Crisis intervention, psychosocial assessment, trauma and bereavement counseling, child protection evaluation and management, and after care planning.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work, and an LCSW (LICSW preferred) in the state of MA

  • Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems

  • An ability to independently carry cases while working well within an interdisciplinary team model

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience working with children and adolescents in an acute psychiatric setting preferred.

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
