The Heart Center Clinical Research Program is looking for an immediate hire of a clinical research assistant to work on multiple projects under the direction of Dr. Jane Newburger. Dr. Newburger has an active practice comprised of patients with congenital and acquired heart disease and have been honored by “Best Doctors in America", “Boston SuperDoctors", "Boston Magazine Best Doctor", and US News and World Report “Top Doctors,” with star designation as in top 1%.
Her research has focused on neurodevelopmental outcomes in children with congenital heart disease after heart surgery, and also on the evaluation and therapy of Kawasaki disease.
The position will support research projects studying COVID-19 patients with MIS-C, Kawasaki disease, drug studies for Fontan patients, and movement and growth of infants with HLHS.
Candidates should have the ability to multi-task, have strong attention to detail, work under multiple priorities and deadlines and interact with faculty, staff, patients and families. There will be opportunities to participate in manuscript writing and authorship.
The Clinical Research Assistant I will participate in patient recruitment, obtaining informed consent, enrolling participants, collecting data, extracting data from the medical records, entering data into the database, working with the IRB, participating in team meetings, mailing medications to patients, transporting samples to the biobank, engaging with patients and families in the clinic and CICU, and other administrative activities as required.
This is a 2-year minimum position.
Responsibilities may include:
• Participant recruitment, screening for eligibility, informed consent and enrollment
• Prepare study materials and data collection materials
• Communicating with patients and families
• Scheduling and participating in meetings (taking notes)
• Data extraction, data entry
To qualify, you must have:
The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in a related science.
The ability to work independently and in a team setting
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Proficient with computer systems and technology
Ability to follow detailed protocols
Strong ability to multi-task
