Boston University BUSINESS SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT, SALESFORCE, BU Virtual Technology in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Boston University Virtual (BUV) is a new unit at Boston University focused on the creation of high-quality online degree and certificate programs. The Business Solutions Architect, Salesforce System Administrator will play a pivotal role by working across BUV and Boston University to identify opportunities to leverage the Salesforce CRM platform to digitally transform and deliver a world-class, global online student experience. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Digital Architecture & Technology, the Business Solutions Architect, Salesforce Administrator is a senior professional role that will evaluate current and future state business capabilities and identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation. This role is expected to have working knowledge of the Salesforce product offerings such as Sales and Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Student Success Hub/Salesforce Advisor Link, EDA / Education Cloud and Marketing Cloud. Working in an agile framework, the Business Solutions Architect will design and deliver new processes and features that are scalable for the future growth of the BUV portfolio. This role will also serve as a Salesforce administrator managing the daily operational support, troubleshoot production issues, and the expansion of the CRM platform. Salesforce duties will include routine system administration functions such as user account maintenance, data management, monitoring reports and dashboards, and creation of training materials to ensure successful adoption of the CRM platform.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate across BUV and Boston University and 3rd party consultants to develop and configure scalable solutions that can support the growing BUV portfolio of programs and learning experiences.

  • Leverage & extend the CRM platform to new BUV programs, prioritize releases that deliver the greatest business value to the BUV Students, Faculty, and Administrative Staff

  • Assess current business capabilities and emerging technology offerings to design future state services to improve the Students, Faculty, and Administrative Staff user experience.

  • Analyze technology solutions and recommend solution design, delivery timeline, and alternative approaches. Translate business requirements into technical delivery design documentation. Work closely with business stakeholders to identify project(s) scope and priorities

  • Participate in Quality Assurance testing to ensure that the stakeholders needs are met and mitigate regression risks to Students, Faculty and Administrative Staff. Adhere to best practices and technical standards in version control & code deployment.

  • Lead the change management efforts through delivery of training materials, webinars, and knowledge articles for successful adoption of the CRM platform.

  • Perform Salesforce System Administrator functions such as: oUser account maintenance and security changes, profile management, permission sets oData management, error resolution, troubleshooting, reports and dashboards oConfiguration tasks, page layouts, list views, workflows, automations, 3rd party plug-ins support and evaluation

Required Skills

10+ years of experience or more of relevant work experience in supporting the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from collecting requirements, design, develop, test, and implementation with successful delivery and adoption of solutions 5+ years of Salesforce experience understanding of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and basic configuration tasks. Knowledge of Student Success Hub is a plus. Experience with Form Assembly and/or Blackthorn events is a plus.

Experience working in a higher education setting either supporting CRM or working to support faculty and students in their student journey Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and influence without authority across a matrixed and large institution. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements. Attention to detail, problem solver and out-of-box thinker Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Visio and/or Lucid charts.
