The Benefits Specialist will:

  • Serves as primary day-to-day contact for vendors and internal Human Resources staff.

  • Provides subject matter expertise and assistance to Employee Service Center staff, evaluating escalated questions and issues and providing problem resolution. May communicate directly with employees or indirectly via the Service Center.

  • Manages vendor file transfers; Evaluates eligibility, stop loss, and related files for accuracy and resolves discrepancies on a regular basis.

  • Reviews and processes weekly/monthly vendor invoices. Monitoring for accuracy and reasonableness.

  • Reviews, tracks and processes expenses, rebates and reimbursements.

  • Provides as needed project support to the department including but not limited to: Benefits Open Enrollment, wellness activities, new vendor selection and implementation and compliance activities.

  • Provide analysis and generate reports in support of employee benefits programs

    To qualify, you must have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree and benefits certification preferred

  • Minimum of one year of experience in benefits administration required

  • Working knowledge of employee benefits policies and procedures, state and federal regulatory legislation such as Affordable Care Act ACA, Internal Revenue Regulations and ERISA, and an understanding of benefit plans and provisions

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Strong problem solving/issues resolution skills

  • General understanding of payroll processes and benefit deduction set up

  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing. Ability to successfully manage multiple demands and projects simultaneously while maintaining confidentiality and discretion. Strong spreadsheet and word processing skills

  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Suite, Excel, Word, etc.

  • Demonstrated analytical ability necessary to compile and interpret a variety of benefits data. Strong attention to detail to ensure quality/rigor in reports and data analysis.

    Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
