National Grid Operational Planning Engineer - Substations - London/Warwick in Bexey, United Kingdom

About the Role

As an Operational Planning Engineer - Substations, you will be required to live within a 1-hour commute of London or Warwick as you will join our London team covering circa 33 substations and area cable routes spanning the London borough. The Operational Planning Engineer – Substations will be accountable for optimisation, prioritisation, resourcing and scheduling of the operational plan within current year timescales whilst supporting optimising campaign time on sites bundling work (outage & non outage) to ensure the most effective use of time for operational staff and area targets are met. You’ll have the flexibility to work from home for up to 2 days per week dependent on the needs of the business and the requirement to be onsite in London or Warwick for the remaining 3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support in building a deliverable tactical plan ensuring non-outage work allocation is accounted for

• Escalate work not delivered/planning action from operational timescales into the tactical plan build

• Allocate trained and competent resource into the tactical Plan

• Manage a rolling plan for operational, unlicensed and capital works within a specified zone

• Work with Substation Project Engineers ensuring correct resource allocation for scheme delivery

• Work collaboratively with delivery units co-ordinating/managing/escalating conflict in the plan

• Resolve escalated planning deliverability risks

• Manage work not delivered by re-prioritising back into current year plan and limiting work not done

• Apply standardisation of outage and work delivery in line with standard work delivery documents

• Confirm trained and competent staff are allocated to work delivery

• Prioritise work utilising all available information i.e., monetarised risk

• Escalate unresolved issues to the cross functional meeting

• Assess impacts from constraints and mitigating actions, where maintenance has been deferred

• Co-ordinate completion of demand at risk actions

• Track work delivery for the zone and assist with reporting on deliverables as required

• Ensure outage and non-outage maintenance compliance targets are met

About You

Are you a flexible and adaptable professional who is commercially focused and has excellent time management, prioritisation, communication and multitasking skills as well as strong attention to detail? If so, our Operational Planning Engineer - Substations vacancy may be for you:

Essential:

• A full driving licence that permits you to drive in the UK

• A level 3 STEM or Planning qualification or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship

• Significant planning or scheduling experience gained from an operational environment

• Experience of using planning/scheduling processes and systems

• Experience of allocating resource requirements

Desirable:

• Membership of IET or similar professional body

• Asset maintenance policy and application experience

• Experience of outage and non-outage work
