Job Purpose and Impact

The Principal Data Architect will provide strategic leadership to developing and designing Cargill’s Enterprise Data architecture, as well as patterns, solutions and standards that integrate multiple platforms and address scaling of capabilities including how we manage, move, store, access and secure data in modern ways. We seek an experienced professional to design and configure systems specifications that address business requirements and processes in consensus and alignment with key stakeholders and partners on our Data teams and with other Architecture Domains. you will work in a complex, heterogenous environment anchored by current and emerging technologies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create and govern Cargill’s Enterprise Data Architecture including standards, principles and patterns.

  • Evaluate and approve local or domain architecture solutions for a medium-to-large portfolio of products and/or projects.

  • Review and approve more complex projects as a key review team member and leader.

  • Significantly contribute to the direction, road map and standards for functional, process, and technical Data solutions.

  • Provide strategic leadership, development and talent management activities for global team of Data Architects, which may include forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and budgeting. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience, three years of supervisory experience

  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five or more years hands-on experience architecting and delivering Enterprise Data solutions including Data Lakes, Data Warehouses or Data Management capabilities

  • Five or more years hands on experience with Data-centric integration, middleware or API design and implementation

  • Experience with modern data movement, storage, management and security technology and tooling, including cloud native capabilities

  • Experience with modern engineering practices (devops, cicd) and how to use and apply them to Data Architectures and solutions

  • Exceptional collaboration and leadership skills
