This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR). MNIT DNR provides comprehensive IT operations and support services, custom application development, and dedicated support functions to an organization that manages and conserves the state’s natural resources in a way that creates a sustainable quality of life for all Minnesotans.

As a Power Platform Developer for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), you will create, implement, and support technical solutions using tools that include Power Platform , Microsoft 365 (M365) tools and other technical business systems for the Department of Natural Resources. You will be responsible for requirements elicitation, creation, configuration, maintenance, testing, and support of platform based solutions that drive efficiency and innovation within the agency. You will provide technical support and service of DNR’s catalog of apps and services. Additionally, you may provide training to end-users, empowering them with the knowledge to effectively utilize agency-wide platform systems and tools. This position will be crucial in supporting end-users within the agency and will help foster a culture of self-service and continuous learning. This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in Minnesota.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate these qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting and monitoring enterprise software applications, including end user support and performance monitoring.

Experience must include:

  • Creating and deploying solutions using Microsoft Power Platform tools including Power Apps, Power BI, and Power Automate.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience using one or more programming language (e.g. Python, C#) to create and support enterprise-level software solutions.

  • Knowledge of software development concepts, methodologies, principles, standards, and best practices.

  • Database management and data analysis skills, including writing SQL queries, stored procedures, connecting to enterprise databases to manipulate, store, and share data with stakeholders.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR a related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR a related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new programming languages and technologies.

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint administration.

  • Ability to demonstrate experience with scripting skills for automation and customization.

  • Experience providing technical assistance for enterprise-level applications and business-related datasets.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and deliver effective training content for end-users, covering both introductory and advanced topics.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify the root causes of complex issues and to resolve the issues.
