The Mental Health Tech establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients and helps patients with daily living. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment. Takes vital signs, weighs patients and collects routine specimens. Relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.
Make beds and clean rooms as necessary.
Takes and records patient vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and respirations under the supervision of a nurse.
Assists with the admission process as directed.
Provide assisting in group setting as necessary under the direction of a nurse or therapist.
Assists in moving patients from place to place on and off the unit or area where assigned.
Retrieves medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy and delivers the medications to the nurse and/or place medications in a secure location as determined by the nurse manager.
Documents vital signs, activities of daily living, sleep hours, safety checks and environmental checks as appropriate.
Assists with laundering of clothes as necessary or directed.
Assists patient with activities of daily living, toileting, feeding, and grooming.
Education High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Certification/Registration Current BLS Certification
Working Conditions Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
Physical Requirements Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking Other Working Conditions Ability to work with aggressive patients
