System Engineer II

Job Description:

Cerner is excited to hire a System Engineer ll. As a System Engineer ll, you are responsible for providing system implementation, support, monitoring and maintenance of Cerner’s solutions and services. You will perform daily system operations tasks to verify system integrity and availability, ongoing performance tuning, OS upgrades, RHEL/OL patching. In this role, you will automate implementation and troubleshooting, service packs, hot fix installations for all environments of Cerner Solutions servers. Additionally, you will implement monitoring for applications and servers, respond to alarms in a timely manner, preventing client impact and performance degradation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years total combined higher education and related work experience, including:

  • 1 year system administration and/or system engineering work experience.

  • 5 years higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job, including:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Systems or Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent, relevant work experience

  • Experience working in Linux and Windows Administration, understanding with Oracle database (11g/12c/19c), middleware administration experience and scripting with Shell/Python/Pearl.

  • Working knowledge on CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to ELK module and data analysis with Kibana.

  • Application hosting with Citrix XenApp 7.X

  • Experience with monitoring tools GCeasy, AppDynamics.

  • RHCSA/RHCE or other system administration certification.

  • Experience with Gatling/JMeter would be a plus.

  • UI Automation experience with eggPlant functional/performance.

  • Automation using chef/ansible will be add on
