Job Description:

Cerner is excited to hire System Engineer II for Shared service engineering team. As a system engineer II, you will be responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly activities required to deliver multiple project tasks on-time while following all process and procedures’, escalating issues as necessary, and creating/updating all necessary documentation. In addition, you will be responsible to OS installs, upgrades, hardware moves and migrations, new server builds, providing advanced escalation support (including engaging vendor support), performance monitoring and tuning, host configuration of provisioned SAN storage and project management.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of total combined related work experience and/or completed higher education, including:

  • At least 1 year of System administration and/or system engineering work experience

  • At least 5 years of higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job, including:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years UNIX Support experience including AIX, HPUX, and Linux operating systems

  • Knowledge of IBM and HP hardware bonding, multipath, HP Hardware, basic scripting

  • Understanding of high availability system design concepts and configuration best practices

  • Ability to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously

  • RHCE/IBM AIX/HP UX certification
