Higher Education Senior Engineer Software Quality in Bangalore, India

SUMMARY

The Senior Architect Software Quality should mature and influence Pearson's quality practice to improve overall velocity and project quality. The Senior Architect Software Quality will be responsible for Quality Engineering (QE) strategy, governance and facilitating the testing efforts across multiple Pearson software development projects simultaneously. The Senior Architect Software Quality will work closely with the executive leadership teams, project managers and project engineering teams to design, deliver and help execute effective quality plans and testing strategies. This position can include ground level testing support research and hand on development of a tool or practice to improve overall test efficiency, fixing major QE performance related technical issues, providing hands on training to ramp up resources on a new technology, QE consulting etc. Senior Architect Software Quality will have an excellent technical, domain and integration knowledge and closely work with development, QE and support Performance Engineering teams. Effective collaboration and excellent communication skills are a critical part of the Senior Architect Software Quality’s activities.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

● Designs the technical approach to test the overall business and technical solution being delivered;

● Develop QE Automation for Software Quality at IT; (is a MUST)

● Provide Quality Engineering leadership for software development projects;

● Defining quality plans and metrics including planning test cycles (UAT, Performance, Integration, Regression, End to End, etc.) and execution in both Agile and Waterfall environments;

● Participate in critical design activities to assure that the product(s) under development meets requirements and can be effectively accounted for in the QE process

● Helps team to drive and complete projects on time and according to software specifications;

● Prepares technical documentation to explain what the code/application does, its interfaces and our overall QE approach to use as a reference during the project;

● Works to raise the overall QE organization from a Technical, Standardization of Processes and Industry Best Practices;

● Assists the Product, Engineering and QE Teams in diagnosing and fixing critical production and QE/UAT issues;

● Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science preferred. Seven (7) or more years of experience with software design and engineering in large scale and highly concurrent enterprise environments preferred with five (5) or more years of experience as a software QE technical lead or equivalent experience and education to perform the duties of the position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

● The ability to ask the right questions about what you are testing, designing and building for the organization.

● The ability to thoroughly explain issues and drive teams to resolution

● Good knowledge in programming concepts and experience in programming languages like Java

● Expert in automation frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Selenium

● UI and/or API level test automation expertise

● Experience with web service technology

● Experience in high volume, high throughput web/ecommerce environment

● Thorough understanding and hands on experience in developing, enhancing automation testing frameworks

● Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities

● Extensive exposure to testing tools such as Selenium Webdriver, and Jenkins

● Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA

● Experience in design and architecting Agile development (Behavior Driven Development (BDD) / Test Driven Development (TDD), SCRUM)

● Strong experience in cloud application projects preferable, AWS
