Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to attain the highest availability targets of our global Microsoft SQL database systems on-prem and in the public cloud. This will involve identifying and measuring areas of opportunity, optimizing processes, designing and implementing automation capabilities; all while understanding how this may change in the public cloud with its DB PaaS capabilities.

The DBRE will work primarily with the SQL Operations team, learn their day-to-day activities, and then develop and implement strategic initiatives to reduce manual work. They will also work with our internal cloud enablement teams to bring best-in-class operational capabilities for our cloud-hosted databases.

Traditional SQL Server engineering and administration experience will be necessary to optimize existing and build new capabilities:

  • Managing and maintaining data definitions in all production and non-production databases and replication servers.

  • Managing database distribution, security, and access requirements.

  • Designing and developing logical and physical layers of databases.

  • Installing, and maintaining database software.

  • Monitoring performance and performing database training and assists application developers.

  • Performing Back-up, recovery, archiving, and conversions.

This position requires participation in our on-call calendar which is part of a large SQL DBA team.

Basic Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

-At least 7 years experience as a DBA interacting with tools, facilities, and techniques for managing and administering data.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Extensive experience in Database administration

  • Strong background in Technical troubleshooting

  • Worked on On-Prem and Cloud Hosting

  • Worked with Application development tools

  • Knowledge of Application delivery process

  • Extensive experience in Automation

  • Worked on Infrastructure as Code

  • Subject matter expert in MS SQL

  • Extensively worked on Automating database operations/PowerShell

  • Strong knowledge in Azure SQL and MI

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $112,880.00 - $132,800.00 - $146,080.00
