Manage, plan, and coordinate maintenance activities associated with physical, environmental and safety needs of mixed-use education, academic, administration, and research buildings.
Develop and manage services to ensure that maintenance personnel perform the proper repairs and preventive maintenance needed to keep a building's infrastructure running smoothly. Manage, plan, coordinate and monitor the physical, environmental and general maintenance of the Dell Medical School buildings. Secure and coordinate related services with appropriate UT departments or outside organizations including, not limited to, custodial, heating-ventilation-air conditioning, steam and plumbing, and maintenance of safety features; solicit proposals and/or bids from alternative service providers where appropriate and make recommendations for optimal selection. Assist in coordinating the delivery of essential facility services to organize the various units of Facilities Management in a logical, non-duplicative, and effective manner which best meets the work requirements and mission of the department while meeting the needs of the University. Assist in establishing appropriate policies and procedures that promote a strong service orientation to students, faculty, and staff. Ensure that all Dell Med School facilities provide a clean, safe, and well maintained environment. Assist the Executive Director in overseeing the Building Managers within Facilities Management and Operations and providing direction as appropriate. Assist in evaluating the condition of all Dell Med School buildings and facilities by conducting audits of the facilities to document their current condition and compliance with life safety and building codes. Advise the Executive Director of the status of existing facilities regarding life safety. Assist in developing plans and budgets for necessary repairs and renovations of Dell Med School buildings and facilities by analyzing the data from periodic facilities audits, understanding the impact of repairs and/or renovations on existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and related systems, and recommending the appropriate priorities for repairs and renovations. Support campus sustainability initiatives by working with the Sustainability Coordinator, Sustainability Commission, and other campus sustainability organizations to support sustainability efforts within the control of Facilities Management and in the best interest of the University and assist in the management of campus utilities with a focus on efficient use of energy resources and assessment and use of new technology for energy conservation that is in the best interest of the University. Determine priorities for the enhancement, repair, and modification of building facilities and equipment; develop plans for ongoing and preventive maintenance of buildings. Work requires the ability to coordinate activities with building occupants and other UT departments, analyze diverse situations and recommend appropriate actions. Contributes to the overall success of the Department of Facilities Management and Operations by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science or facilities management. At least seven years of experience in physical plant operations, administration, and supervision. Proven management skills with the ability to instruct others. Proven experience working with research and clinical faculty, staff, and an overall diverse client base. Experience in coordinating and managing multiple activities. Experience reading complex construction documents and specifications. Successful candidate must be reliable and able to handle a variety of difficult and sometimes emergency situations. Must demonstrate well-developed communication and computer skills. Must display a high level of initiative, maturity, customer service, and problem solving skills. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. Must be trustworthy and able to handle confidential and sensitive issues. Master's Degree in engineering, science or facilities management. More than seven years of experience in physical plant operations, administration, and supervision. Experience with developing and managing facilities budgets, analyzing, organizing, planning, and delegating preventative maintenance plans for buildings. Experience reading and interpreting building equipment operations and maintenance manuals. Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office products including Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
