The Role: The role of the SQM is to ensure that the Xylem Supply base meets all quality expectations towards the local operation sites (internal Customer). The SQM ensures supplier quality non-conformances are resolved effectively and efficiently. The SQM manages the regional Supplier Quality Audit Program and ensures audit actions are managed as per process. The SQM analyzes the quality of the supply base and makes recommendation towards Continuous Improvement, managing the Supplier Development Program and giving input to Category Strategy.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manages SQE’s directly in in the North Americas region

  • Develops Supplier Quality Community and hosts monthly Supplier Quality council meeting

  • Ensures Supplier Quality competence; manages SQ skills matrix, SQ Certification Program, etc.

  • Uses competence, XGP experience and company strategy to define the yearly SQ Audit Program, ensuring input from Supplier Quality Engineers, Category Managers, Site Buyers and Commercial Team Procurement Manager

  • Manages the SQ Audit Program; manages audit plans, reviews audit reports and ensures audit actions are closed out effectively and efficiently

  • Provides monthly KPI’s on the SQ Audit Program and a quarterly report

  • Delivers yearly SQ Audit report with consolidated recommendations towards strategy

  • New Product Development (NPD) and Value Added Value Engineering (VAVE

  • Works with R&D to evolve New Product Development (NPD) process regarding XPG Processes

  • Offers supplier quality expertise to New Product Development as first point of contact

  • Offers supplier quality expertise to VAVE projects as key member of the project team

  • Suggests most suitable production technique/changes from quality perspective

  • Manages the Supplier Quality Qualification Process for the North Americas region, is first interface for Category Managers for new suppliers regarding quality

  • Manages/performs supplier quality audits or assigns the duty to the most competent SQE

  • Works with the Compliance, Sustainability and Procurement Process Manager to ensure Supply Chain risk is ameliorated

  • Works with Category Managers (or Site Buyers as appropriate) to simultaneously perform Supplier Risk & Capability Assessment and Supplier Quality Audit

  • Ensures effectiveness of Part/Product Process Qualification management in coordination with the responsible local SQEs

  • Provides consolidated regional report and KPI on Part/Product Process Qualification at Supplier

  • Consolidates monthly supplier quality performance KPI’s

  • Gives reactive input to category managers on SQ performance and coordinates action plans

  • Supports category managers to determine and maintain list of preferred suppliers as per Program

  • Ensures XGP Supplier Quality process are best practice; monitors, measures, assesses, continuously improves and revises SQ processes

  • Ensures XGP Supplier Quality process are followed in the North Americas region, audits internally to check implementation

  • Ensures actions are taken (RCA/CAPA/8D etc.) to increase supplier quality as per process

  • Leads resolution of (major) quality issues with suppliers, where necessary

  • Develops, implements and manages the SQ Development Program

  • Manages SQ Development Actions

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • University degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality or equivalent.

  • Good knowledge of, and at least 10 years’ experience of engineering industry

  • Ability to prepare and influence Higher Management strategic decisions

  • Excellent auditing and analytical skills, experienced in conduction of internal and external audits

  • Good knowledge of Procurement processes & procedures

  • At least 4 years’ experience of Procurement for the quality engineering industry

  • Fluent in oral and written English

  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Capable of working in a team environment involving multiple cultures

  • Team/people management experience

  • Represent Xylem Europe GmbH in a professional way and act in accordance to Xylem Code of Conduct.

  • Ability to travel as required by the position

  • Driven and with target focus

  • Certified Internal & External Quality Auditor

  • Lean six sigma and Continuous Improvement qualifications

  • Good knowledge in manufacturing techniques and processes for assigned commodity or assigned portfolio of parts/components
