At CVS, we're building a Mobile Platform to enable teams across CVS Digital to deliver experiences quickly and easily into the hands of our customers. The Mobile Platform will be leveraged by hundreds of engineers across Retail, Pharmacy, and Aetna building apps used by millions of customers.
As a Staff Android Engineer for the Mobile Platform, you will be responsible for building shared internal libraries, tools, and processes that enable teams across CVS Digital to self-service build, test, deploy and operate systems with reduced lead time and stack complexity.
This is a new team at CVS and we need a strong technical leader who can work with a high level of freedom and autonomy, advocate for best practices, and can collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, architects and leadership to build a platform that engineers want to use. This is a unique opportunity to help build a team from the ground up.
Ideal candidate can work from home or in hybrid model in one of our office locations in IL, NY , GA or AZ.
What We Expect of You
Have a deep understanding of the Android platform and its ecosystem, including the Android SDK, Kotlin programming language, and popular Android development tools like Android Studio.
Develop scalable engineering solutions for cross-team concerns like networking, build tooling, performance, observability, analytics, CI/CD and other architectural challenges.
Possess experience with A/B Testing, personalization, and analytics.
Advocate for best practices for building performant, scalable, and reliable applications.
Have a good understanding of mobile security best practices and be able to implement them in your software designs.
Have excellent leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, coach, and provide constructive feedback.
Be familiar with agile development methodologies like Scrum or Kanban and be able to work effectively in an agile team environment.
Have experience with automated testing and debugging tools to ensure high-quality software releases.
Be comfortable working collaboratively with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to build a successful mobile platform.
Be comfortable sharing what you've built and learned with the broader engineering organization. - You should have experience influencing large teams on best practices in mobile Android development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of Software development experience.
5+ years in designing/developing Android Mobile applications.
3+ years of experience with modern Android development frameworks such as Kotlin, ideally Java as well.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge of Gradle build system and writing custom Gradle tasks.
Advanced knowledge of security practices
Experience building stand-alone Android libraries.
Experience with Kotlin coroutines and flows.
Experience with secure and efficient data caching techniques.
Knowledge of architecture patterns with Jetpack Compose.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree or, equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$106,605.00 - $260,590.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
