Overview

Join AIR as a Research Assistant with ourLearning Supports (https://www.air.org/our-work/education) program area, where we provideresearch (https://www.air.org/our-capabilities/research-evaluation) andtechnical assistance (https://www.air.org/our-capabilities/technical-assistance) to federal, state, and local clients, primarily focusing on the supports children need to be ready to learn in the K-12 education system. Our Learning Supports program area uses a proactive and preventative framework to support these content areas:

  • Early childhood

  • English learners

  • Multi-tiered system of support

  • Special education

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of ourU.S. office locations. (https://www.air.org/locations#headquarters) This does not include U.S. territories.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Conduct literature reviews to support projects and proposals

  • Assist staff in the review, identification and development of scholarly information describing research findings

  • Participate in the collection, analysis, and review of research and evaluation data

  • Develop spreadsheets and data bases to support project activities

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative research data and contribute to the reporting and interpretation of findings

  • Assist with the development and writing of new professional learning and implementation tools and resources

  • Conduct ongoing communication with project stakeholders through email, telephone, virtual and in-person channels

  • Attend meetings with internal and external colleagues and conduct notetaking support

  • Support direct technical assistance (TA) with States and districts through both virtual and in-person meetings

  • Support communication and marketing tasks such as writing newsletters, blog posts, and website content

  • Support planning and implementation of national and/or project meetings and events

  • Provide support on projects

  • Provide new business and proposal development support by researching funding opportunities, conducting literature reviews, coordinating proposals, and/or writing proposal sections

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, statistics, economics, computer science, public policy, public health or other social science related fields

  • Experience with and/or knowledge of data collection and analysis methodologies and techniques, such as survey design, analysis of program administrative data, and conduct of structured interviews, observations, and focus groups

  • Experience with or inclination to learn and use statistical software programs such as R, SPSS, or Stata to analyze data

  • Experience working in schools or experience within an organization supporting technical assistance (TA) projects (e.g., coordinating large streams of work, collecting and analyzing data, developing resources) preferred, not required

  • Experience translating research into practice for diverse stakeholder audiences in both virtual and in-person settings preferred, not required

  • Experience with communicating across broad and diverse stakeholder audiences through a variety of communication means preferred, not required

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate professionally with both internal and external colleagues

  • Excellent organization and time management

  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when writing

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or the equivalent (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software)

  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment

Disclosures:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated salary of $25.50 per hour. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
