Mechanical Engineering Intern

As an Engineering Intern you will gain exposure in the various aspects of engineering for a global manufacturing company. In addition, you will develop your professional expertise, technical skills, and business acumen by collaborating with experienced nVent engineering professionals and by supporting various initiatives and projects

As a Cooling Engineering Intern you will get to:

  • Develop designs and documentation for new and existing products by creating 3D models, drawings, bills of materials (BOM), and other documentation.

  • Perform calculations, analyses, and simulations to validate designs, specifications, and predict product performance.

  • Work hands-on with cooling equipment such as air conditioners, heat exchangers, and filter fans.

  • Plan and direct test activities to qualify and validate products to internal, industry, and regulatory standards.

  • Work with designers to ensure designs meet product and customer requirements, are optimized for manufacturability, and incorporate standard processes.

  • Support continuation engineering and assist our operations and manufacturing teams with technical guidance on the application of cooling products.

  • Direct and assist with the build of components and assemblies for prototypes and pilot builds.

Your experience as a Cooling Engineering Intern goes beyond the day-to-day of your role. In addition to the support of your manager, you can expect to grow and develop through exposure to leadership, engaging in development opportunities, and networking with other early career professionals.

*Program Details:  *

  • Interns and Co-ops are paid hourly for time worked 

  • Relocation and housing support is available for eligible candidates    

  • Interns and Co-ops receive paid time off, paid sick time, paid volunteer time, and paid holidays   

  • Interns and Co-ops who demonstrate outstanding performance may be offered a subsequent internship/co-op or full-time offer of employment with nVent

Location: The Cooling Engineering Co-op is located in *Anoka, Minnesota  *

YOU HAVE:

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, orsimilar from an ABET accredited program - Sophomores and Juniors preferred

  • Completed two semesters, including a minimum of one semester in 3D CAD systems (i.e. SolidWorks, Creo).

  • Candidates applying for nVent's Co-Op and Internship Program must have current work authorization and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. nVent does not provide work authorization sponsorship.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior work experience preferred.

  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems, heat transfer, and fluid flow.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems.
