nVent Mechanical Designer in Anoka, Minnesota

What you will experience in this position:

  • Join a high growth R&D Engineering team that is focused on growth and development within our High Density Liquid Cooling!

  • Build product designs and documentation for new and existing products by providing accurate layouts, 3D models, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and other documentation to fully define product for manufacture. Work will include projects with significant scope and/or complexity and minimal supervision from engineers and supervisor.

  • Manage both small and some parts of large scale projects independently.

  • Direct and assist with the build of components and assemblies for prototypes and pilot builds

  • Participate in the 3D process, A3’s, 3P & 2P events

  • Participate in Lean activities as requested

  • Assist in the development of engineering, drafting and release standards

  • Perform tolerance stack analysis of complex assemblies and drawings prior to release of documentation

  • Participate in the product development process, including design brainstorming and voice of customer activity

  • Initiate/prepare Engineering Change Order (ECO) documentation, including the development of BOM’s

  • Perform research and investigation to acquire missing information to ensure all specifications are accurately presented on documentation

  • Perform required calculations to ensure all dimensions, tolerances and other specifications are accurate as represented with minimal checking required

  • Provide technical expertise in the use of required tools such as SolidWorks and Enovia

You have:

  • Two year technical degree preferably in drafting or design

  • Ideally 3+ years mechanical experience in drafting/design required

  • Knowledge of drafting standards, GD&T, and manufacturing processes

  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical or refrigeration for designing, assisting and directing the build of components and assemblies

  • Knowledge using SolidWorks, Enovia and JD Edwards

  • Knowledge of brazing/welding of copper, stainless steel

  • Knowledge of tubing and manifold designs for fluids

  • Knowledge of plastic part design

  • Skills to independently identify and define materials and information needed for a project

  • Skills to assemble engineered design packages

  • Demonstrated skills in attention to detail and accuracy
