The Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) is seeking a dynamic Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our team of providers dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others. Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) is a 100-bed modern tertiary care hospital, with four services: Medical/Psychiatric; Neurocognitive/Neurodevelopmental; Complex/Co-occurring (including substance use disorders); and Intense Behavioral Treatment for people with a breadth of diagnostic presentations, primarily SPMI. AMRTC is the hub of a state psychiatric care network including 6 smaller hospitals and a wide range of community-based resources.

The programs supervised at this level will be characterized by: diverse clients, multiple diagnoses/disabilities, and the application of a broad range of psychotherapy techniques. Given the relatively recent influx of forensic patients associated with the 48-hour rule at AMRTC, we have also recently experienced a significant increase in the need for clinical services for the forensic population we serve (i.e., Rule 20 patients).

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing individual and group psychotherapy as well as psychological screening and assessment services.

  • Providing consultation to program delivery staff and other professionals regarding the overall treatment of individuals with mental illness and other co-occurring conditions.

  • Peer consultation and mentoring with other department psychologists.

  • Active involvement and leadership as a team member providing psychological expertise to the treatment planning and implementation process.

  • Providing clinical leadership/supervision, education, training and mentoring to staff, treatment teams, psychological trainees, and unlicensed psychologist.

Qualified candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Clinical experience, particularly with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), and knowledge of evidence-based interventions/therapy modalities to serve this population.

  • Skills to administer, score, and interpret psychological tests and to write clear, concise, and informative psychological reports.

  • Ability to facilitate small and large groups and offer consultation on these skills to other professional staff, provide effective crisis intervention therapy to groups and to individual clients, and interpret and use psychological terminology and understand psychiatric and psychological reports from other consultants.

  • Knowledge of principles related to establishing and maintaining a therapeutic community on treatment units and the ability to effectively develop and utilize strategies to enhance aspects of the therapeutic milieu.

Ability to generate behavioral recommendations/plans informed by biopsychosocial case conceptualizations.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Behavior Medicine Practitioner (BMP) Qualifications:

  • Possess a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology; AND

  • Be licensed or a license eligible Psychologist in the State of Minnesota, AND

  • One year of post-license experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of inpatient/hospital experience.

  • Two (2) years of experience working as part of a clinical team.

  • Ability to conduct cognitive screening.

  • Additional clinical specialization in geriatric psychology.

  • Additional clinical specialization in health psychology.

  • Forensic experience
