MTA-USA Business Development Leader

Scope: Trane is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Leader to lead the MTA-USA sales team. MTA-USA is a recent Trane acquisition selling fully packaged air-cooled chillers (1-200T) into the industrial process market through Trane’s Commercial Sales Offices, legacy MTA distributors, and OEMs. This role will be responsible for delivering targeted business growth against revenue and margin targets. You will provide strategic leadership to the sales team, develop and implement comprehensive sales planning and execution standard work, and collaborate closely with Product Management and Marketing to align with Trane’s industrial process go-to-market strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective leadership and direction to the MTA-USA sales team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the achievement of sales targets across multiple channels.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales plans that align with the company's overall business objectives and Annual Operating Plan.

  • Implement standard work processes for the documentation and tracking of regional sales plans, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and transparency across all regions.

  • Identify and analyze market opportunities, trends, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making and target specific market segments, with a focus on industrial process applications.

  • Partner with product management to develop and execute targeted go-to-market strategies for specific market segments, ensuring alignment with product offerings and customer needs.

  • Drive revenue and margin growth by establishing and executing sales activities, forecasting, and reporting on bookings, revenue, conversion rates, and pipeline maintenance.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, handling high-level customer issues and ensuring effective and timely customer review activity.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including product management, marketing, and operations, to ensure cohesive and effective execution of sales strategies.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth by implementing comprehensive training programs, providing regular coaching and feedback, and identifying opportunities for skill enhancement. Mentor team members to achieve their full potential, ensuring alignment with both individual career goals and organizational objectives.

  • Support human capital strategies, such as employee engagement, recruitment and retention, and diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications:

  • Required – Must have sales leadership, business development and/or industrial equipment sales experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business, or a related field from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven experience in business development, sales leadership, and market strategy within the industrial equipment market

  • Strong technical background in industrial process application; HVAC and/or refrigeration systems knowledge preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful sales plans and strategies.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Salary Range: $108,000 - $251,500

Disclaimer: This pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, experience, geographic location where the work is performed.
