Risk Management Internship:

This is a rotational internship to gain exposure in Cargill Risk Management’s business for both trading and sales.

Your Work:

  • Help monitor the short-term trading strategies and books for a specific commodity, market or customer based on speculative and hedged positions.

  • Assist teammates reconcile routine or repetitive profit and loss estimates and reports.

  • Monitor customer and competitor activity and industry trends.

  • Help implement sales strategies, identify potential customers and foster existing customer relationships.

  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Internship details:

  • Internships are typically 12 weeks in duration.

  • Interns are paid hourly for time worked.

  • Interns are responsible for transportation to and from work.

  • Interns may have the opportunity to travel during their term.

  • Interns who demonstrate outstanding performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered an internship or full-time position to return the following year.

*Minnesota-based employees: Minnesota Sick and Safe Leave accruals of one hour for every 30 worked, up to 48 hours per calendar year unless otherwise provided by law.

Compensation

The expected hourly rate for this position is $21.90-$30.30. Compensation decisions are dependent on grad date and eligibility for full-time employment.

Job Locations:

  • Wayzata, MN

  • Plant or office setting, must be open to working in either type of setting

  • Majority of work week will be in office but there will be flexibility for hybrid work arrangements

Required Qualifications:

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree graduating between December 2025 and August 2026

  • Candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate to Wayzata, MN, if applicable, for an internship opportunity

  • Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June - August 2025)

  • Strong analytical, prioritization and problem-solving skills, collaboration skills, and verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work optimally with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and cultures

  • Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed, currently enrolled, or planning to complete before graduating either a micro or macro introductory college-level economics course

  • Knowledge of commodity markets to translate macro and micro events into local supply and demand distortions.
