Job Purpose and Impact

The Commodity Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing bulk ingredient logistics via rail and truck for the production facilities within North America. In this role, you will be responsible for the purchasing and logistics of non-price sensitive ingredients. You will also determine quantity being used by production facilities, understanding limitations of receiving plants, and best solution timely delivery of ingredients to the locations you manage.

Key Accountabilities

• Perform activities that support transportation and logistics solutions on inbound movement of raw commodity ingredients and finished goods from origin to destination.

• Execute logistics activities that support the execution of the supply chain, such as transportation capacity plans, management of third-party warehouses and vendors, container administration and import shipments.

• Assist with routine schedule preparation, transportation arrangement, stock inventory management and reporting of shipments in accordance with purchase and sales contracts.

• Execute against the logistics and supply chain strategy, resolve basic issues and provide recommendations to support improved and cost beneficial freight movements.

• Facilitate shipments against purchase and sales contracts, execute internal and external purchase orders and invoices and perform data entry updates using enterprise resource planning systems, spreadsheets and databases.

• Execute specialized transportation and logistics activities around material resource plans for the facilities, claims and incidents, customer service and customer orders contracts.

• Conduct activities to support the development of relationships to assist with order and shipment changes in order to make the best buy or sell decisions to minimize costs and maximize profits and services.

• Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

• Microsoft Office experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Supply Chain or related fields

• Background in Agriculture or related fields

• Experience in Agriculture Commodities

• Experience in Transportation

• AS400 and/or SAP experience
