Leadership Development Director

We are looking for a dynamic and creative professional who is passionate about developing leadership at all levels of an organisation to help support and develop Elastic employees as the company expands globally.

We are looking to align this role with EDT timezone, so would love to hear from candidates who are based in this region of The United States.

What you will do:

Your role will be to lead and oversee all leadership development activity at Elastic.

Partnering closely with our most senior stakeholders will be essential to gain input, insight, advocacy and active involvement in leadership programs.

  • Leading and evolving our leadership development strategy in partnership with business leaders and HR. This leadership program will include all leaders, from new managers through to executives

  • Developing a set of leadership expectations that are unique to Elastic, linked to specific behaviors, representative of diverse inputs and views, and captures Elastic’s culture as it is now, and how it might be in the future

  • Assess individual, team and company-wide learning needs with the output of developing impactful and scalable learning opportunities.

  • Partnering with members of the L&OD team to both craft new programs / interventions for leaders, and adapt/evolve existing programs in line with these expectations

  • Bring a high level of expertise and credibility to leadership development activity - both to our internal team and to our broader stakeholder groups

  • Contribute to broader discussions on how leadership development activity can inform and influence talent practices such as hiring, assessments, succession planning etc.

  • Be an advocate for robust evaluation of programs to ensure our team’s activity is demonstrating value

  • Work closely with the PMO team to ensure smooth, disciplined and efficient working practices as we develop and deliver our programs

  • Manage vendor relationships with strategic external partners

  • Facilitate learning programs, management, and leadership development workshops as needed - both face-to-face and virtually

  • Support employee engagement survey and initiatives

  • Experiment often and transition quickly from pilot to global programs

Who You Are:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a learning, talent, or organizational development role with lots of learnings to bring forward.

  • You are thrilled with the idea of experimenting and evaluating to build programs from scratch and consider yourself a strong designer who can implement then scale up.

  • You have a proven track record of success working in-house and leading the learning development needs of a fast growing, global business

  • You have managed people / teams

  • A passionate facilitator in both face-to-face and virtual settings and are comfortable leading sessions with leaders of varying levels.

  • You thrive in ambiguity, adapt quickly to a changing environment, take a global view, and know that sometimes laughter is indeed the best solution.

  • Experience working in the technology industry sector would be an advantage

In addition, you have:

  • Strategic thinking, advising, mentoring, coaching, and analytical skills

  • Good practical knowledge of learning technologies and innovations in learning design

  • Strong knowledge of leadership & management trends and best practices

  • Experience in building, delivering, and scaling global learning programs

  • Experience in effectively working with multiple 3rd party vendors

  • Experience working in-house in a leadership development capacity

  • Experience working in the Technology / IT / Software / SaaS sector is a bonus
