Citizens Valuation Intern in Albany, New York


Willamette Management Associates, a Citizens company, is seeking talented candidates interested in a summer internship opportunity!

We seek interns with an interest in the disciplines of business valuation (including closely held company valuation, illiquid stock and bond valuation, and intangible asset and intellectual property valuation). Analytics also includes damages, related forensic analysis, tangible and intangible property appraisal, and intercompany transfer pricing analysis.

Job Overview:

The Summer 2022 Valuation Intern will assist staff by valuing companies for purposes of pricing and restructuring, gift and estate planning, taxation planning and compliance, divorce, litigation support, mergers and acquisitions, and ESOP updates and installations.

The individual will assist staff in valuing companies based on several methods including the guideline publicly traded company method, the merged and acquired company method, the discounted cash flow method, the direct capitalization of cash flow method, and the adjusted net asset value method. The individual will work with staff to perform industry research, examine company financial statements and projections, and prepare reports including exhibits detailing valuation analysis.

Job Duties:

You will be responsible for administrative and marketing duties which would include preparing copies of valuation reports and research projects for various marketing initiatives. You should be able to understand instructions and ask questions when additional information is needed.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a 4-year accredited college/university as a Junior.

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

  • Knowledge of Accounting and Finance including coursework experience.

  • Strong understanding of financial statements and financial formulas.

  • An initiative taker who can handle multiple priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal / written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and detail-oriented.

  • Team player who can work closely with others to complete projects under tight deadlines.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

    Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership in a club, volunteer, or sports.

  • Prior internship experience, preferably within a financial institution.

  • Project management experience.

    *This role is not available in CO.
