Albany Medical Center Physician Assistant Fellow - Emergency Medicine in Albany, New York

The Physician Assistant Fellow (PA Fellow) is a credentialed position required to function in and practice in an expanded specialty. The PA Fellow will be further developing their Emergency Medicine clinical and didactic acumen while functioning as a member of the multidisciplinary team. They will work with senior APP staff and attending physicians to build the responsibility and accountability for the assessment and management of patients, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions and the daily implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care while deepening their knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

Conduct patient assessments and complete physical examinations, collect clinical data including vital signs, collecting specimens, prepare patients for tests, therapy, or treatments, order and interpret medical laboratory test results, diagnose medical condition of patient, administer medications or treatments, and perform procedures within scope of practice under the guidance of Senior APP Staff and Attending Physicians.

Completes various clinical rotations including Adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Airway Management, Cardiac Critical Care, Surgical Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Toxicology, Trauma, POC Ultrasound, Emergency Medical Services, Orthopedics, and Radiology where the PA Fellow will serve as a functioning member of the team. Complete accurate patient coding for effective billing, maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports, and maintain inventory of medical supplies and instruments as required by each rotation.

Attends various didactic components including various Certification Courses, Simulation Lab Sessions, Cadaver Lab Sessions, SEMPA/Rosh Review Assessment Program, M&M Conference, Monthly Journal Club, Weekly Departmental Conference, Biweekly Fellow Conference.
