Albany Medical Center Nurse Practitioner - Neurology in Albany, New York

Salary range: $101,147 - $126,465

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated inpatient clinical team in the Comprehensive Stroke Center and make a significant contribution to providing specialized quality care to our patients!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The NP works in collaboration with the Inpatient Stroke Team, supervised by the Vascular Neurologist on the inpatient service, to deliver quality care to patients with acute stroke.

  • The NP applies knowledge of anatomy, principles or theories of neurology, microbiology, physiology, psychology, human disabilities, pharmacology, gerontology, human growth and development, human developmental disease, and medical terminology as appropriate in the care setting and as appropriate for level of medical licensure.

  • The NP conducts patient assessments and complete physical examinations, managing patients independently under indirect supervision.

  • The NP is responsible for the complete care of the inpatients assigned to them, including ordering diagnostic testing, managing medications, meeting with families, and arranging appropriate disposition from the hospital.

  • The NP works within a multidisciplinary team including physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and case managers. There are regular educational opportunities for the NP within the Department of Neurology and the Division of Vascular Neurology.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master’s degree program or a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree

  • Current NYS licensure, Board Certified, and DEA registration

  • Possess or obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by the US Center for Medicaid and Medicare services

  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills

  • Professional demeanor and integrity
