Albany Medical Center Nurse Clinician in Albany, New York

The RN Educator/ WOC nurse uses the educational design process to close the knowledge, skills, and/or practice gaps identified through needs assessment and to impact evidence-based practice.

Job Description:

  • Seeks to be the content expert in the care of patients with wounds, ostomies, and incontinence.

  • Contributes to the professional development of others and supports life-long learning as individuals transition across learning/practice environments, and professional roles.

  • Applies a systematic process to shift individuals, teams, and organizations from current state to desired state and close performance gaps.

  • Applies a variety of learning technologies to address learning and performance needs, encourage knowledge sharing, and promote collaboration.

  • Provides leadership to project and learning activity implementation, scientifically measuring the impact on organizational goals.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school, master’s degree in nursing is preferred

  • Licensed to practice as an RN or APRN in NY

  • 5 + years experience working as an RN or APRN

  • BCLS certification / ACLS certification a plus

  • WOCNCB Certification preferred, WTA-C or similar cerification considered

  • Working knowledge of supplies, vendors and DME for wound and ostomy care

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal interactions, and patient teaching skills

  • Excellent organization, research, and mentoring

  • Flexibility to teach when and where nurses are available to learn

This position requires

  • educating nurses with varying levels of education and experience so they can support clinic needs

  • educating patients and families with varying levels of education and knowledge

  • collaborative teamwork and support between inpatient and outpatient wound / ostomy care

  • collaborative teamwork with physicians, residents and case managers

  • staying current with research and update methods and new developments in their field.

  • being comfortable collaborating with the administration or education department to plan, organize, implement, and teach students, as well as clinical staff nurses, nurse managers, and preceptors.
