FUNCTION & SCOPE:

The Network / Systems Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of an organization's network infrastructure and systems. This role involves maintaining and optimizing network performance, monitoring systems, troubleshooting issues, and implementing security measures. The Network / Systems Administrator plays a vital role in supporting the organization's technology infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted business operations. Critical thinking skills and the ability to successfully work independently in a fast-paced corporate environment are critical success factors for the incumbent in this role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Network Management:

  • Configure, manage and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize network resources to ensure maximum efficiency.

  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.

  • Design, implement, and manage network protocols, IP addressing, and subnets.

  • Systems Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain server systems (physical or virtual) running various operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux, or others.

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure data security and compliance.

  • Perform system backups, disaster recovery planning, and system updates to maintain data integrity and availability.

  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.

  • Security and Compliance:

  • Implement security best practices to safeguard network and system infrastructure from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats.

  • Keep systems and software up to date with the latest security patches and updates.

  • Work with the SecOps team to identify and mitigate potential risks.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, such as HIPAA, GDPR, or others relevant to the organization.

  • Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Respond to and resolve user-reported technical issues related to network connectivity, hardware, software, and system functionality.

  • Provide timely technical support to end-users and colleagues, both remotely and on-site.

  • Troubleshoot complex problems by analyzing system logs, monitoring tools, and diagnostic utilities.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network and system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

  • Generate regular reports on network and system performance, security incidents, and maintenance activities.

    Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Proven experience as a Network and Systems Administrator.

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, architectures, and technologies.

  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices and systems.

  • Familiarity with server operating systems, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms.

  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.

  • Strong communication skills to interact with team members, end-users, and vendors.

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, etc., are a plus.

Work Environment:

The Network / Systems Administrator typically works in an office environment, but remote work may be possible. This role will require off-hours work for system maintenance, upgrades, and responding to emergencies.

Compensation for this position: The compensation for this role is between $63,990 to $77,991. The pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.
