Patient Flow Assistant

The Logistics Center Patient Flow Assistant is an important part of of the Logistics Center team, as they help to assist with all aspects of patient flow into, throughout and out of the hospital. The Patient Flow Assistant supports the Logistics Center leadership, specialist and coordinators, with duties as assigned, including but not limited to supporting and facilitating placement of admissions via all portals of entry, transfers, consults, and bed management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports up through the Logistics Center.

  • Assists and supports patient flow into, through, and out of the hospital.

  • This includes assisting with and supporting: patient placement for all admissions through all portals of entry (transfers, ED, OR/PACU, direct), bed management, monitoring capacity, transfers and consults.

  • Assists and supports use of data analytics and technology to help make real-time assessments and patient flow decisions expeditiously.

  • Utilizes strong communication and professionalism to assist and support driving access, capacity, efficiency, high quality and safe care for patients.

  • Helps to manage and mitigate patient flow barriers even prior to them occuring.

  • Escalates barriers identified unable to help mitigate via chain of command within Logistics Center timely.

  • Comfortable navigating, entering information into, and extracting information from electronic medical record and technology tools within the Logistics Center.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree - required

  • Bachelor's Degree - preferred

  • 1-3 years Clinical Experience - required

  • Communication and professionalism (High proficiency)

  • Ability to work within and with large teams (High proficiency)

  • Ability and willingness to assist, support and take direction from leadership and specialized teammates (High proficiency)

  • Ability to interpret real-time data to drive decision-making (Medium proficiency)

  • Utilization and data entry into EMR and technology (Medium proficiency)

  • Clinical expertise (Medium proficiency)

  • Previous or current LPN/EMT/MA/PCA - preferred
