FUNCTION & SCOPE:

Reporting to the Pre-Award and Grants Business Applications Manager the student selected for this position will learn about the Research Foundation's reliance on and use of a multitude of sponsor/third party systems. Within the course of their work, the intern selected for this role will be expected to provide assistance and operational support, as it relates to these tools. Moreover, the individual selected should be able to execute assigned tasks from conception to completion in a timely and accurate manner all while tracking their activities in the RF's service request ticketing system. The individual selected for this role will primarily execute routine user requests, such as user account generation/maintenance, role assignment per authorized personnel instructions, organizational based account management, and other tasks associated with key business systems under general supervision. Additionally, when needed the candidate may also assist with similar activities for RF operated business applications. Provided that the selected candidate for this role will be regularly interacting with our stakeholders it will be crucial that the individual has a courteous and friendly disposition. Further, since the selected candidate will be part of a team within the department, they should be able to collaborate and have open communication to seek assistance or guidance.

DUTIES:

  • Interpret and complete requests as it relates to sponsor/third party systems as they are received by end users or as directed.

  • Creating new user accounts, ensuring they have the appropriate permissions and access.

  • Thoroughly document or update past documentation of actions taken within these systems for individual accounts or the organization's account configurations for future reference.

  • Troubleshooting user account issues, such as permissions errors.

  • Maintenance of organizational data in these systems, ensuring the RF is properly configured to do business.

  • Monitoring of request queue to ensure timely response and action is taken when a request is received.

  • Be an effective team player by working with ITS team members to accomplish established tasks or seek assistance.

  • Assist in other departmental projects or special assignments under the direction of the supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, excellent communication skills, and the ability to both work as part of a team and independently.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees throughout the organization.

  • Adept in learning new software tools and systems.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and possess a high degree of attention to detail.

  • Possess critical thinking skills in approaching problems.

    Job Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidate should hold a high school degree or equivalent.

  • Is currently enrolled in an accredited degree program, a student from the State University of New York (SUNY) colleges and universities is preferred but not required.

  • Has demonstrated organizational skills, willingness to work independently, problem solving, adhering to deadlines, effective listening/communication, and proven commitment to follow established processes/procedures.

Compensation for this position: The compensation for this role is $18/hr undergrad and $20/hr grad students.
