Albany Medical Center Imaging Care Associate in Albany, New York

Functions as a member of the patient care centered health team under the supervision of the Radiology Technologist; in the following Assisting the Technologist in completing activities of daily operation and assuring patient safety. Assuring the safety and cleanliness of the Unit, as well as maintaining supplies and equipment. Relates to and assists patients, families, and other health care workers with respect and kindness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the preparation of the patients for the Imaging procedure
Works with the technologists to facilitate patient handling, e.g. Bring patients to and from the dressing, exam rooms and back to their ER rooms.
Initiates/Completes paperwork related to the exam/care of the patient as indicated by technologist.
Assists the patient on and off procedure table as indicated by technologist.
Provides support and assistance to the technologist and Radiologists i.e. screening phone calls, exam set up and post exam clean up.
Maintains stock supply and linen in exam room.
Completes light housekeeping duties, as needed
Works in areas and on shifts as assigned by Manager/ Clinical Specialist
Assists in transportation of patients when needed.
Demonstrates knowledge of the patient BILL of RIGHTS, HIPPA, by incorporating them into their practice
Participates in development and attainment of unit, department, and divisional goals.
Reports change in patient status to Radiologist, nurse and/or technologist
Establishes and maintain maintains direct, honest, open professional relationships with all health care team members, patients. and families
Actively supports JCAHO and HIPPA standards
Completes hospital and departmental required education.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
less than 1 year in a hospital setting or completion of certified paramedic, EMT or medical corpsman training - preferred
Previous clinical experience - preferred
Pursues validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making and seeks guidance in areas of question.
Demonstrates knowledge of the patient BILL of RIGHTS, HIPPA, by incorporating them into their practice
Demonstrates self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development.
Demonstrates commitment to unit and human, resource policies.
Recognizes mission, vision, values, and strategic direction of the institution.
Effective problem solving and resolution skills.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and developmental characteristics of the patient.
