Albany Medical Center Epic Training Manager in Albany, New York

The training manager is responsible for communicating training policies and procedures across the organization and for overall coordination and management of training activities and trainers.

The training manager is responsible for the overall implementation of your Epic end‐user training program as well as ongoing education and maintenance of the training program after go‐live. They are responsible for determining required training resources, directing and managing training team staffing, and securing facilities and equipment for classroom training. In addition, the training manager decides curriculum delivery methods, oversees the creation and maintenance of a realistic training environment, creates a course catalog and training schedule, and ensures all users are trained before they access the production environment.

Salary Range: $71,547.00 - $118,053.00 USD

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic and Operational Planning

  • Secures and maintains a Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Communicates with Project leadership about training milestones, policies, and decisions.

  • Designing the course offerings and course catalog in the LMS.

  • Securing training rooms, workstations, printers, projectors and screens, barcode scanners, and other equipment needed for classroom training.

  • Creating an efficient schedule for classroom training.

  • Acts as a change management and transition champion

  • Planning and Program Development

  • Prepares for the creation and build of the training environment.

  • Provides support and troubleshoots issues that arise in the training environment.

  • Develops a training environment strategy, which includes coordinating environments, refreshing schedules, and developing playground and practice environments.

  • Recruiting, staffing, and hiring principal trainers and other supplemental training staff.

  • Develops and executes credentialed trainer program.

  • Manages Principal trainers.

  • Determines the types of curriculum delivery methods (instructor led, e-learning, or blended) that will be used for super user and end user training.

  • Sets training requirements for end-user system access.

  • Develops post-live training for new hires, refresher training, optimization, and upgrades.

  • Plans and executes a successful post go-live training program.

  • Plans how to deliver new information about the system to end users before upgrades.

  • Patient Safety

  • Ensure actions of the team are always in the best interest of the patient.

  • Understands patient confidentiality is always a must.

  • Is aware of their and the teams’ surroundings to ensure patient care is not disrupted.

  • Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, DNV, DOH or any other regulatory body.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare or IT field - required

  • 5+ years’ experience in Healthcare, Project Management, or curriculum design/delivery. - required

  • Experience with technology and healthcare strongly desired.

  • Knowledge of organizational culture, personnel, and processes strongly desired.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office suite.

  • Strong presentation/facilitation skills.

  • Ability to lead others and communicate importance of training to all stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively with staff having a wide range of seniority.

  • Experience in curriculum design/delivery highly preferred.

  • EPIC - EPIC Certification within the time outlined upon hire. - required
