Position Summary
NYSTRS Executive division seeks a highly motivated Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) intern to support the DEI Department in programming and administrative tasks and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be enrolled in a full-time bachelor's or master's degree program with at least one semester left to complete all degree requirements after the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel
Experience with or knowledge of office environment norms
Experience and comfort speaking to a large cross-functional, multi-level group
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Significant attention to detail
Ability to show initiative and work independently
Work Modality
This position is subject to a hybrid work schedule.
Job Duties
The duties for the DEI student intern will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop and deliver educational programming on inclusive leadership within the workplace
Facilitate departmental programming relative to yearly dates of celebrations
Identify new strategies for employee engagement noting research on organizational DEI
Assist DEI staff with carrying out ongoing initiatives
Track progress, priorities, and deadlines of various DEI projects
Assistance with departmental internet/intranet site upkeep
Salary Grade
This is a non-graded position.

$20.00 an hour
