Albany Medical Center Diagnostic Radiology Manager in Albany, New York

(salary commensurate with experience)

Given general guidance and direction by the Director, is expected to manage the large Diagnostic Radiology technical personnel. Must function with high initiative and independent judgement; assist the Service Director with the development, interpretation, and application of the Departmental Policies, budgets and long-range plans. Actively works with other management staff within Imaging and Related Services to assure optimal use of resources and to problem solve in an effective manner.

  • Strive to keep his/her performance level, up to the standards of management leadership, as set by Albany Medical Center Responsible for interviewing and hiring all employees under his/her supervision

  • Responsible for preparation and review of Annual Performance Reviews (APR) assessments Responsible for review of new employee CBOT for the Diagnostic Section.

  • Responsible for Administrative activities of the Department including the development and preparation of budgets, variances reports, documents, Kronos records, statistical surveys and other required data.

  • Maintains and prepares Master Work Schedules and assigns personnel appropriately for all areas. Ensures adequate staffing to cover sick, vacation, holiday and LOA time off.

  • Ensures KRONOS Schedules and Timecards are implemented and followed in the Department with by-weekly monitoring.

  • Responsible for preparation of business plans for the under $50k annual capital budget.

  • Responsible for preparation of business plans for the over $50k annual capital budget, which include equipment/room replacement, staffing numbers, and long-term equipment replacements.

  • In conjunction with other Imaging personnel, arranges for preventative maintenance, quality assurance testing, and repair of X-Ray and related equipment.

  • Assures readiness for regulatory inspections/JCAHO In conjunction with the Service Director mediates individual problems related to staff, morale, procedures, salary adjustments, safety and discipline

  • Responsible for the timely submission of payroll documentation on a weekly basis, via Kronos Oversees department in-service program and the records of attendance and topic of each session. Conducts monthly staff meetings

  • In conjunction with the Service Director evaluates technical services and along with the medical staff ensures standards of quality are maintained in accordance with those established by the Radiology Chairman and any state or federal regulations that apply

  • Responsible for learning and practicing quality improvement and staff empowerment techniques. Assures staff is engaged in the quality process.

  • Daily monitoring of Department’s electronic images in the PAC’s system to correct exceptions to assure timeliness in report-turn-around Serves on AMC Committees outside of Imaging, i.e. OR, QIT, any others as needed.

  • Participates in Radiology Manager on-call rotation

  • Actively works to market services of the Diagnostic Department.

  • Works with other AMC Departments as needed in this effort.

  • Monitors/receives patient/customer complaints personally.

  • Follows-up on each one as appropriate.

  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care for all age specific patients

  • Will keep abreast of new procedures, equipment and methods.

  • Will participate in their evaluation and application within Departmental operations.

  • Perform other related duties as required by Department Director.

Education: Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Training Program in an AMA approved school. Bachelor of Science Degree in Management or Radiologic related field preferred.

Licensure, Certification Registration: Must hold a non-restrictive professional license as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the New York State Department of Health and be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Membership in professional societies such as the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and/or the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators is desirable.

Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years as a Radiologic Technologist with at least 3 years of demonstrated record of progressive responsibility
