Albany Medical Center Clinical Nuclear Pharmacist in Albany, New York

The Clinical Nuclear Pharmacist is responsible for providing a full range of advanced nuclear pharmaceutical care services. Working as part of the patient care team the nuclear pharmacist contributes unique expertise in nuclear medicine, medication safety, therapeutics, education and medication preparation. The Nuclear Pharmacist reports to the Pharmacy Supervisors. Work schedule is determined by the Pharmacy Supervisors and Directors.

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as recognized leader in pharmaceutical care of patients in nuclear medicine.

  • Develop and expand clinical nuclear pharmacy practice in assigned area(s) and other areas within AMC

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in assigned area(s) and other areas within AMC

  • Serve as critical link between the pharmacy and other care providers.

  • Actively develop the knowledge of all pharmacy staff in order to improve the care of patients at AMC.

  • Actively promote improved pharmaceutical care services to AMC patients.

  • Function as an integral part of multi-disciplinary care teams .

  • Actively identify and resolve complex patient care issues.

  • Establish local recognition for expertise in providing pharmaceutical care in the nuclear medicine setting..

  • Coordinate and participate in research involving patients at AMC.

  • Participate effectively in all appropriate Committees and QITs

  • Actively promote medication safety

  • Promote rational cost effective use of medications

  • Provide pharmaceutical care to all types and ages of patients cared for at AMC.

  • Effectively performs medication order and drug therapy review leading to improved patient outcomes

  • Prepare and dispense medications when necessary.

  • Provide drug information

  • Monitor patient drug therapy

  • Collaborate with other caregivers, the patient and significant others to optimize pharmaceutical care

  • Supervise and direct support personnel

  • Participate in training and development of staff

  • Provide professional leadership to the Department, Center and Community

  • Routinely work with management and others to improve pharmaceutical care and services.

  • Provide leadership in nuclear medicine pharmacy and nuclear medicine.

  • Promote and assist in the continued advancement of pharmaceutical care services. Willingly provide any and all appropriate functions as a recognized expert and leader.

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care
